Image of Albany logo The Albany will be transformed into a sumptuous Bedouin style lounge for a screening of "The Adventures of Prince Achmed" (1926) - the oldest surviving feature-length animation in cinema's history. Lotte Reiniger's pioneering silhouette animation takes its inspiration from "1001 Arabian Nights", resulting in hypnotic and visually breathtaking imagery.
This stunning film will be accompanied by a new contemporary soundtrack created by Arun Ghosh.
His revitalised score will draw upon the cinematic orchestration styles of retro 70's blaxploitation, classic westerns, Bollywood melodrama and Hammer horror films, with elements of jazz, hip-hop and traditional Middle Eastern sounds.

Silhouette image of Arun Ghosh and musicians Uniquely, the premiere performance of this music will be presented as a live action silhouette film featuring Arun Ghosh, the accompanying cast of musicians Adriano Adewale, Shabaka Hutchings, Jenny Adejayan, Corey Mwamba and Liran Donin and their instruments seen as shadows on screen.
Recline in comfort on cushions, rugs, low sofas, sip some mint tea - watch "Prince Achmed" projected onto flowing drapes above and around you.
A multi-sensory cross-artform extravaganza of cinema, music and movement - Not to be missed!
